Milit-Beg*9 April 1929, 3443972 Pte Edward Cootes, joined the 7th (TA) Lancashire Fusiliers on 9th April 1929 until the 12 August 1929, On the 13 August 1929 he signed on as a regular soldier for 7 years with the colours and 5 years with the reserve, in the Border Regiment, the choice of Regiment at that time would have been his.
He was posted to the Headquarter Wing, 2nd Battalion The Border Regiment, then serving in India, you must remember that Pakistan did not exist before 1947, he was admitted to The British Military Hospital, Rawlpindi and died of Typhoid Fever on 6th August 1931 and is buried in the British Cemetery in Rawlpindi.5
